The photodynamic process of daylight (daylight)-PDT works like the classical PDT by means of a light activated aminolevulic acid (ALA). In contrast to the classical PDT, the exposure occurs immediately after the active substance is applied over a period of 2 hours in daylight.
In the classic PDT, the selective influx in the affected tissues is first awaited and then exposed with red laser diodes over 10-15 min.
The Daylight-PDT is practically painless in contrast to the classic PDT. It is therefore particularly suitable as an anti-aging treatment for the revitalization of large areas of skin such as a whole décolleté or larger facial area.
The rejuvenation effect is often enormous.
After many years of own experience, the classic PDT is more successful in skin cancer precursors and the effect is much more lasting. However, for a cosmetic effect, the pain-free daylight-PDT is a wonderful tool.
